27 June: Annual Dinner Meeting

Two Oceans celebrated a successful end of the Toastmasters year at Bhandari's Restuarant in Fish Hoek on Wed 27th June. Our members enjoyed a delicious Indian feast complete with belly dancers and much laughter. Lorne Sulcas was Toastmaster for the evening and Area Governer Francois Rossouw inducted in the new committee for 2012-2013.

Amongst the numerous awards handed out, Marion Thomas was named Toastmaster of the Year for her invaluable work as the Club's President in 2011-2012 and ensuring that Two Oceans achieved 10/10 Distinguished Club points, making us a Presidents Distinguished Club! Theo Potgieter also achieved his DTM being the first member of our club to do so!

The incoming committee is:   President - Theo Potgieter;  Vice President Education - Kay Price-Lindsay; Vice President Membership - Ruth Cort; Vice President Public Relations - Verity Price; Secretary - Helen Burton; Treasurer - Verity Price and Master At Arms - Aaron Blanchard.

5 May: District Contest won by Kay!!!

July 5, 2012
Kay Price-Lindsay won the District 74 International (prepared) speaking contest with her speech 'Snap, Crackle, Pop'. This is the first time ever that a member of Two Oceans Toastmasters has become the public speaking champion of Southern Africa!!!

Kay will represent District 74 at the World Championships of Public Speaking in the USA in August 2012. Go get em!

29 March: Division Contest hosted by Two Oceans!

Two Oceans Toastmasters hosted the annual Division D speech contests in the Alphen Hall in Constantia. This was the first time our club had hosted such an event and it went brilliantly. With over 100 guests, fantastic finalists in the Prepared Speaking, Impromptu and Evaluation sections and delicious catering, it was a very special evening all round.

14 March: Area Speech Contest

July 5, 2012
The annual speech contests for Area D1 were held at Good Hope Toastmasters in Tokai.

From Two Oceans Toastmasters Kay Price-Lindsay won the International (prepared) speech contest and Sandi Welsh placed second in the Impromptu Speaking contest (which was won by Mike Fawcett from Achievers Toastmasters). Oliver Hagan (Grove Toastmasters) won the Evaluations contest.

Kay will represent area D1 at the Division D contest on Thursday 29 March 2012.

1 February: Annual Speech Contest

Two Oceans Toastmasters held their annual speech contests, and the winners were
Kay Price-Lindsay
(international or prepared speech), Lorne Sulcas (evaluations) and Sandi Welsh (impromptu speaking).

They will represent Two Oceans Toastmasters at the Area contest on Wednesday 14 March 2012. Good luck!
